A 35-Year Tradition in Chess: the Eyüboğlu White Elephant Tournament

The 35th Eyüboğlu White Elephant International Chess Tournament took place between January 7–12th, 2026, welcoming nearly 900 players and creating an atmosphere filled with excitement and competitive spirit.

The tournament opened with a speech by Fethi APAYDIN, President of the Türkiye Satranç Federasyonu. This was followed by an inspiring talk with our national athlete, Ediz GÜREL, which motivated chess enthusiasts. With Ediz GÜREL’s symbolic opening move, the tournament officially began and continued with days of intense competition.

On the final day, our national athlete Yağız Kaan ERDOĞMUŞ added a special highlight by playing a simultaneous exhibition match with our students. This chess festival, marked by determination and passion, concluded with the award ceremony, where the winners received their trophies and medals.
